Ropp capper

Winegrowers Supplies - Ropp (Roll on pilfer proof) capping machines:

For applying Ropp aluminium caps with original seal, with or without drip-catcher.
For long Ropp caps (e.g. 30x60 mm) it is essential to have 4 roller capping heads (2 seaming and 2 threading).
With a stainless steel 4-roller capping head there is no closure or sealing issue with any type of cap.

Lower price machines with only 3 roller heads are only suitable for short caps. My supplier has stopped selling these because of the problems of having to re-adjust the heads.

The following models have 4 roller capping heads of the highest quality, as used on fast running automatic lines.
Some other manufacturers similar machines have lower quality capping heads.

The 4 roller capping head (with magnetic clutch) is made entirely of hardened / tempered stainless steel, with a 'no cap / no roll' safety device.
Each capping head is adjusted for one specific cap size (e.g. 30x60 mm). These models are relatively easy to alter for different types of caps; that can be very important.

Pneumatic operation, with air filter and regulator built in. A compressed air supply of 6 bars is required.
230 volts single-phase.

Output: is up to 900 bottles/hour, depending on the operator.

Bottles are placed on the pedestal by hand. Two push-buttons are pressed simultaneously, to ensure that the operator's hands are away from moving parts.

When the two start buttons are pressed, the bottle rises on to the capping head, forming the thread and closing the cap in just a few seconds. When it reaches the end the head withdraws automatically, ready for the next start.

It is easy to adjust for height of different bottles.
Manufactured in stainless steel and food-grade plastic components, it weighs 65 kilos.

Or: non-pneumatic - electric/mechanical models:-

"The electric/mechanical capper is more precise than the pneumatic, the head is pressed down onto the bottle by mechanical force - consistently, with the same speed and pressure.
For long caps (30x60 mm) I would recommend nothing else. For shorter caps the pneumatic capper is good enough."

A high pressure downwards onto the cap is necessary to fit the seal perfectly on the bottle neck before making the screw thread on it.
Depending on the manufacturer that pressure can be up to 170 or 200 kilos. Wear is less on the mechanical capper than on the pneumatic capper.

For tall/slim bottles or very small bottles I recommend always the mechanical capper.
For up to 30,000 bottles a year the pneumatic capper will do a good job, for higher use then the electric/mechanical capper is really necessary:-

The operation is without the need for compressed air; hence quieter for the operator.

For smooth capsules with a diameter of 31.5 mm. and height 24 mm, or other sizes.
The standard machine is also ideal for standard Stelvin 30x60 mm, but for this size it is not possible to thread caps with a plastic pourer inside.

It is essetial to send sample bottles and caps to Italy, so it can be set up correctly.
For the manufacturing and testing of the machine they need to receive 5 bottles + 100 capsules.

The speed of the closing head is adjustable.

Although it is designed mainly for closing aluminium Ropp caps, different heads are available by which it is possible to use the machine to apply pre-threaded plastic caps or twist-off caps/jar-lids: 4850 Euros
For these applications, this electric/mechanical model is essential.
